The intensive training is suitable for educators, social workers, therapists, parents, circus trainers, mental health workers, special needs service provers, and anyone who works with marginalized populations.
Participants will leave with theoretical and practical skills to enable them to incorporate circus as a social, emotional, physical, and cognitive capacity building tool for individuals and communities.
No prior circus or university experience required.
Understand and utilizing the HCT Practice Model
Occupational Therapy Theory and Practices: Grading tasks, client centeredness, assessment, intervention and goal setting
Examining and applying instruction for the purpose of increasing social, emotional, physical and cognitive capacities.
Teaching to different learning styles
Identifying and working with differences in sensory-motor abilities, visual perception, gross and fine motor control, and executive functions
Working with refugee populations
Safety of staff and participants
Individual and group focused instruction
Planning and evaluating a workshop
Completion for the training will leave participants certified by HCT in teaching circus to people with learning differences, special needs, and socio-political challenges.
